At last year’s D23 Expo fan event, Disney shared some very exciting potential plans for the future regarding Magic Kingdom. Now, we know more about what’s going to happen at the park!
Beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Last year, Disney shared some of their “Blue Sky” projects with the crowd at D23 Expo. These are basically brainstormed projects, and they are not officially happening, they’re strictly ideas as far as we know.

Part of the presentation was about expanding Magic Kingdom beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland. The area would have at least three themed lands.

Disney showed some concept artwork for a potential land themed to Coco, as well as Encanto.

And, there could also be a land dedicated solely to the Disney Villains, which fans have been begging for for years!

But, at the time, this was all hypothetical. Now, we know a teeny bit more about Disney’s actual plans. We learned earlier about Disney’s plans to reimagine DinoLand in Animal Kingdom to the Tropical Americas, which will include themes from Encanto and Indiana Jones.

So with those themes taken by Animal Kingdom, what could Magic Kingdom have in store? Well, all they could confirm was that they are currently “refining ideas” for the space behind Big Thunder, and these ideas are “looking great.”
They also noted that this new space would include attractions, restaurants, shows, and more, but we will have to wait for the new land theme to be revealed in the future!
