Brightline Delays Orlando Service Again
Brightline has once again delayed the start of its passenger train service to Orlando.
The new line between South Florida and Orlando was originally expected to open on September 1. Brightline, however, delayed the opening in order to complete the final stages of operational certification and crew testing.

When delaying the services from September 1 through the 6th, Brightline previously indicated that more delays could be possible.
Another Delay
In a post on X (formally Twitter), Brightline noted that they were still working on completing the aforementioned final stages of certification and testing.

“We’re eager to launch service and are close to identifying a start date for Brightline Orlando Station. We’ve added a few more days to our work schedule to complete the final stages of certification and testing,” the company wrote.
“We will not be launching service to or from Orlando from Sept. 7 – 21 and have already started engaging Guests whose travel has been impacted. Please visit the Help Desk on our website with questions or to connect with us,” they continued.

Customers Will Be Refunded
Rides between September 1 and September 21 have now officially been canceled. Customers who had tickets for those dates will receive a premium voucher for each ticket they bought, in addition to a refund.
According to the Brightline help center, vouchers can be used through August 31, 2024.
On June 21 during the new line’s golden spike event, Brightline president Patrick Goddard stated that thousands of tickets had already been sold for the new Orlando service. It is not clear how many travelers have been since impacted by the delays.
