Former ‘Hannah Montana’ Star Mitchel Musso Arrested in Texas
Former Disney Channel star Mitchel Musso was arrested in Texas on Saturday and has been charged with public drunkenness and theft. The incident happened in his hometown of Rockwell.
Musso is best known for his role as Oliver Oken in the Disney Channel hit series, Hannah Montana, where he starred opposite Miley Cyrus.
In addition to his work on Hannah Montana, Musso starred in the Disney XD show Pair of Kings and his done voice work in both Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy’s Law. His most recent work with Disney was as the voice of Jeremy in 2020’s Phineas and Ferb: Candace Across the Universe.
Police were called to a Rockwall hotel after Musso took a bag of chips from the hotel market and refused to pay. The visibly intoxicated actor then began acting belligerently.
Because Musso had multiple outstanding traffic warrants, the former Disney star was taken into custody. He was eventually released on a $1,000 bond.
Musso Has Been In Trouble Before
Saturday’s incident was not Musso’s first run-in with the law. On October 17, 2011, Musso was pulled over in Burbank, California after failing to slow down for traffic cops. Musso, then age 20, was subsequently charged with a DUI suspicion.
Musso eventually avoided jail time by pleading “no contest” to the charges. He was then sentenced to 36 months of informal probation.
After Musso’s 2011 arrest, his character was written out of Pair of Kings. Additionally, his PrankStars show was canceled by Disney.
“In becoming an adult I have learned firsthand that stepping up and taking responsibility is the best way to move forward. I am especially thankful to my family and fans for their unwavering support and encouragement. I am glad to now put this in the past,” Musso later said.
