Disneyland Paris Cast Member Fired For Refusing To Put Toppings On A Waffle?
A Disneyland Paris Cast Member found themselves in hot water over whipped cream — of all things.
Loris Taboreau, 20, was fired from his Disneyland Paris job after he refused to put whipped cream, Nutella, and marshmallows on guests’ waffles at Les Chariots Gourmands.
The sticky situation unfolded after customers saw Taboureau load all of the sweet toppings on the waffles ordered by the people in front of them in line.
Taboureau allegedly then told the family that they had to choose two toppings — Nutella or whipped cream — which was the restaurant’s policy.
When confronted, he replied in “a tone that the customers described as nonchalant: ‘They are my pals.'”
Taboureu Believes He Was Fired For Striking
Taboureau admitted to giving whipped cream to some colleagues who ordered when customers weren’t around. He told the Sunday Times, however, that he couldn’t break the stand’s rules for everyone.
“When my colleagues came, there was no one around the kiosk. I put a little whipped cream on their waffles. Customers arrived soon after. If I had given cream to the whole queue, I would have been reprimanded,” he said, later adding, “I did not use a nonchalant tone.”
Taboureau for his part, believes that he got the axe for his role in the ongoing Disneyland Paris Cast Member strikes.
Over the past serval months, Disneyland Paris Cast Members have publically stopped work and organized in an attempt to get an across-the-board raise.
Taboureau, who has been named and pictured in previous articles about the strikes, was disappointed to be let go.
“I’m upset. It’s a company in which I liked to work and to which I dedicated my days for a year,” Taboureau told Le Parisien.
“The only time I failed to bring the magic to life, I was immediately fired,” he added.
A “Witch Hunt”
The National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions, which represents Disneyland Paris employees, has denounced the “witch hunt” against strikers. Five other employees who were involved in the strikes have allegedly been fired under similar circumstances.
A Disneyland Paris spokesperson told The Sunday Times: “We do not comment on internal procedures related to individual situations.”
