Your Guide To All of the Creatures, Droids and Aliens You’ll Encounter at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Never will you find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy then at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening this weekend at Disneyland Resort. This area of Disneyland theme park is also home to many fantastical creatures, droids and some familiar characters from the films! To prepare you for the fun that awaits, we here at MickeyBlog thought we’d share with you some of the incredible inhabitants of Black Spire Outpost on Batuu!
DROIDS
DJ R-3X
Disney Star Wars enthusiasts will remember this droid from Star Tours. Affectionately known as “Rex” he has crash-landed on Batuu where he now serves a new purpose- as DJ at Oga’s Cantina!
R5-P8
This sassy droid is Hondo’s trusty astromech at Spaceport. He functions as an automated repair mechanic on the smuggler’s many starships. He’s not afraid to stand up to Hondo. See if you can catch one of their humorous interactions.
8D-J8
A former smelter droid, 8D-J8 was reprogrammed to turn the meats on the spit at Ronto Roasters (pictured above), ensuring they are cooked to perfection.
CHARACTERS
Chewbacca
You’ll find this legendary Wookie warrior at both the Resistance Encampment and at Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Chewie came to Batuu aboard the damaged Falcon and is searching for special parts to fix his ship. In order to acquire these parts, he made a deal with Hondo Ohnaka (more on him in a minuted) where he would loan him the ship for a short smuggling run in exchange for parts! That’s where you come in!!
Dok-Ondar
This larger-than-life collector buys sells and trades valuable items at the Den of Antiquities. He is an Ithorian and has amassed a collection of goods that is truly unrivalled in the galaxy. He’s also known as the “gatekeeper” of the black market in Black Spire Outpost, so locals know not to cross him. You’ll see him working at his desk—taking inventory and barking the occasional order at his assistants between incoming calls.
Oga Garra
This Blutopian crime boss of Black Spire Outpost is never seen but is often heard yelling at her servers inside the Cantina. Her influence stretches throughout the outpost, and her fingers are in every business transaction.
The Gatherers
The Gatherers are a group of men and women who have dedicated themselves to restoring balance in the galaxy by passing on ancient knowledge. Part of this role includes imparting this knowledge to the next generation of Jedi through the art of helping them build their own lightsabers. You’ll find the Gatherers at Savi’s Workshop- HandbuiltLightsabers.
Vi Moradi
Vi Moradi is a spy and intelligence officer for the Resistance. She has traveled to Batuu to see if it’s suitable as a potential Resistance recruiting station. You’ll find her traversing the twisted pathways of Black Spire Outpost to stay one step ahead of the First Order. Keep your eyes peeled as you never know where you might see her lurking.
Hondo Ohnaka
You’ll know him from beloved animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Hondo Ohnaka is a Weequay pirate turned “businessman”- in other words, a smuggler! Hondo founded Ohnaka Transport Solutions which has it’s home base at Black Spire Outpost and specializes in delivering restricted items. As part of the storyline of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run he asks visitors to help him acquire cargo that both the First Order and the Resistance are trying to get their hands on!
Kylo Ren
The most formidable baddie in the Universe and the Supreme Leader of the First Order, Kylo strikes fear into the heart of his foes. As you’ll know from the films, Kylo Ren is determined to root out the Resistance and travels to Batuu with the goal to destroy any traces of them that he can find! Be on the lookout for him near Docking Bay 9 which is the First Order Encampment.
Rey
Rumor has it that at some point after the Battle of Crait and at the conclusion of The Last Jedi, Rey ventured to Batuu to lead the recruitment effort for the Resistance. See if you can find her near the Resistance Encampment!
Zabaka
You may recognize these interesting looking creatures (the Toydarian) from The Phantom Menace and you’ll find one right here in Black Spire Outpost. Zabaka runs a small stall at the outpost where she sells quality toys. visitors to Toydarian Toymaker may even catch of glimpse of her silhouette working hard in her workshop!
CREATURES
Convor
You may recognize this gold-and-brown plumed feathery friend from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Be on the lookout for him at the Creature Stall.
Dianonga
You may recognize this slimy, tentacled carnivore from Star Wars: A New Hope when it attached Luke Skywalker in the infamous Death Star trash compactor scene. I’ve heard reports from adventurers to Black Spire Outpost that a similar creature can be found in the water tank at the water fountain. He even has the nickname “Tiny.” Another Dianoga can also be found in a tank at the Den of Antiquities! He goes by the name “Toothy!”
Dokma
This creature is known for it’s small, timid stature but if you look closely you may find one of these creatures (featured in Star Wars Rebels) at the Creature Stall!
Felucian Fireflies
Look carefully around the Dok-Ondar’s incredible creature collection at Den of Antiquities and you may even see these elusive fireflies which you’ll remember from the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
Fyrnock
You don’t want to get too close to this fierce predator from Star Wars Rebels. However, you will find this small humanoid creature in the Creature Stall. He can only survive under the cover of darkness so look for a dark crate!
Loth-Cat
This feline-type creature from Star Wars Rebels hunts small rodents on the grassy plains of Lothal. You can see one for yourself at the Creature Stall where his tail sways gently as it sleeps.
Kowakian Monkey -Lizard
Now here’s a creature I’m sure you’ll remember as the pet to Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi. Guests paying a visit the creature stall can see the monkey-lizards tail hanging from a cage and if you listen you may even get a chance to hear its iconic high-pitched laugh.
Momong
This creature from The Clone Wars is also known as a Trandoshan monkey. It typically lives in the trees. You can see one hanging from a cage in the Creature Stall.
Mynock
A creature that definitely gives me the heebies, you may remember these bat-like parasites from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Be on the lookout for one of these “beastly things” in the tanks at Oga’s Cantina.
Ollopom
These creatures are hard to spot as they are often mistaken for a plant and make their home in the Gungan Swamps of Naboo. See if you can find on inside Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.
Profrogg
See this taxidermied creature at Dok-Ondar’s. It’s a large rodent with horns, a snout, super-sharp incisors and powerful claws used for digging a complex underground burrowing system.
Puffer Pig
You may know this creature from Star Wars Rebels. The puffer pig is a mammalian species that can sniff valuable minerals which makes it an important companion for smugglers. When it’s frightened, it inflates to massive proportions! Visit the Creature Stall and you might see (and hear) one!
Sarlaac
This dangerous carnivorous plant can grow to a terrifying 100 meters long and likes to camouflage itself in the sand leaving its huge mouth exposed to gobble up prey. You may remember Sarlaac from Return of the Jedi. Dok Ondar reportedly has one of these creatures at Den of Antiquities. But don’t worry it’s in a special tank so you’re safe!
Swamp Slug
You’ll remember this creature from the swamps of Dagobah. Remember R2-D2 getting swallowed and spit out by one in The Empire Strikes Back? Well, we’ve heard there’s one in the tanks at Oga’s Cantina. See if you can spot it!
Wampa
Who can forget Luke’s encounter with this white furry predator from Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back? You’ll find a taxidermic wampa as part of the Doc’s massive collection in Den of Antiquities.
Womp Rat
You may remember Luke’s encounter with this pest native to Tatooine in A New Hope. You can see a taxidermic version at Den of Antiquities during your Galaxy’s Edge visit.
Worrt
Pictured on the far right-hand side of the image above, you may remember Worrt from Return of the Jedi. They are typically found in the sand dunes of Tatooine but our first encounter with creature came during a brief cameo it made outside Jabba the Hutt’s palace. It waits for rodents or insects to pass by them whips out its very long tongue to snatch up its prey.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this brief encounter with many of the creatures, characters and droids you’ll find around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge which has officially opened at Disneyland Resort. Bring this list with you and see how many you can find!
