Disneyland Theme Park Evacuated Due to Complications from Tropical Storm Hilary
Though Tropical Storm and Hurricane theme park closures happen every now and then at Walt Disney World, it’s rare to hear of weather closures at Disneyland Resort in California. However, that is changing with Tropical Storm Hilary which is bringing lots of rain and higher-than-usual winds to the area.
According to a piece in the SF Gate, Warning sirens could be heard on Sunday afternoon at Pixar Pier which is located in Disney California Adventure as bad weather moved into the area. It was later revealed that the inclement weather had resulted in a power outage and that the park has reopened despite the unfavorable weather conditions.
During the closure, guests were forced to evacuate restaurants in the area like the Lamplight Lounge and onlookers noticed that the Incredicoaster, a Disney California Adventure landmark, was halted mid-ride. All of this happened during a torrential downpour, which according to the SF Gate lasted for at least 10 minutes.
You can check out a tweet from a guest at the theme park during the closure below!

Downpours were reported at Disneyland theme parks throughout the day with many parkgoers feeling the brunt of the weather around 2:00 PST. For those planning to visit Disneyland in the days ahead, we advise that you pay close attention to the unexpected weather. Also, check disneyland.com for information regarding theme park or ride closures.
As you can see from the weather.com warning above, a Tropical Storm Warning is ongoing for Anaheim and neighboring counties. In addition this afternoon a 5.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Ojai which is about two hours north of Disneyland.
Even before the bad weather officially arrived, Disneyland announced that both parks would close early this evening as a precautionary measure. Disneyland at 10pm and California Adventure at 9pm. This is an hour earlier than usual.
