Happily Ever After and Boo Bash Washed Out, Guests Not Happy
It was a wet night for guests at Magic Kingdom this evening as heavy storms put a damper on festivities. Happily Ever After fireworks were cancelled and Boo Bash suffered a series of disappointing mishaps.
The severe lightning in the area had to be taken seriously. Check out this quick video clip sent to us by MickeyTravels agent Caitlyn Stoyka.
Several rides closed for maintenance and others can not operate safely in severe weather conditions. Adding to those casualties, Pirates of the Caribbean was closed for some time and It’s A Small World went down for a while as well.
This all limited the number of available attractions to a staggeringly low number.
With the downpour, Boo Bash character cavalcades were a no-go and it seems the Halloween candy was late to arrive at distribution points, leading to sparse treats for Guests.
It was definitely not the kind scary evening Disney was going for and fans are reeling on social media. We see plenty of complaints like this one, from Twitter user Rutgers 1766.
Other Guests report that candy locations were turning people away if they visited more than once. We’re not sure if this is a new policy or if it had anything to do with tonight’s bad weather and apparent candy shortage.
Perhaps presenting the best overall theme of the evening was Twitter user Alyssa Zaczek, with the following tweet.
Obviously, Disney can’t control the weather but they did offer Guests some recourse. Anyone with a Boo Bash ticket this evening was issued a 1-day ticket to any Walt Disney World theme park of their choosing, valid for one year from today’s date.
It was originally reported that refunds would not be given. The following announcement was issued via the My Disney Experience app for guests in attendance.
With Boo Bash being a one-time event for most Guests, people weren’t happy.
The line for Guest Services grew understandably long. Twitter user @TwoDisneyDorks shared this photo via Twitter, showing the line wrapping around the Main Street flagpole and over to the Emporium.
But it appears the line paid off and refunds did indeed happen as the same Twitter user later posted.
We’re sure this wasn’t the evening Disney envisioned either but they are the gold standard in Customer Service so it’s no surprise they are trying to appease unhappy Guests tonight.
MickeyBlog will keep an eye out for any additional information regarding this evening’s cancellations and we hope all in attendance tonight made it home safely!
