We Tried Those Chicken-Stuffed Mickey Waffles at Walt Disney World!
Over the past few days, you may have heard whispers of excitement and intrigue throughout the Disney foodie community. Mickey waffles? Served on sticks? Stuffed with fried chicken?
Of course, your MickeyBloggers here had to go investigate, and boy are we glad we did. Strap in, breakfast fans, and let’s go check out the hottest new dish on Walt Disney World property this summer!
Before we share the food, let’s take a moment to tell you all about where we are this morning.
Our magical MickeyBlog reporter Miranda was over at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort: the gorgeously vibrant and chilled-out moderate hotel that has become a firm favorite among many guests.
Back in April, MickeyBlog published a fantastic full video tour of Coronado, which you can catch up on here. In it, we show you all the unique amenities, recreation offerings, dining, and more across the resort, so it’s certainly not one to miss if you’re planning a stay!
However, our destination this morning is Rix Sports Bar and Grill, the friendly restaurant located in El Centro area at the resort.
This place is open all day for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner services (with reservations preferred but walk-ups also accepted) – but it’s this exciting new breakfast menu that has gotten us here today!
As you can see from these handy photos of the Rix menu, there’s some really mouth-watering dishes available to order here! But, is anything in particular catching your eye?
Of course, we know exactly what we’re going to be ordering for our main meal today. But, let’s start of with a quick drink, shall we?
Churro Iced Latte
This dreamy-looking morning caffeine fix is the Churro Iced Latte – a sweet seasonal drink that’s brightening the breakfast menu here at Rix.
As with many venues across Walt Disney World, it’s Joffrey’s Coffee served at this location, and we couldn’t wait to find out what this unique specialty latte tasted like!
According to Miranda, this latte was certainly good enough to become a new favorite at Disney. While it was on the sweeter side, the classic combination of cinnamon and coffee is always going to hit the spot for us. It cost $7. Certainly something we’d recommend to our fellow coffee lovers at Coronado Springs!
Chicken Stuffed Mickey Waffles
Ok, now for the main event. The reason we’re all here… and excited about it. Behold: the Chicken Mickey Waffles!
Yep, this glorious new dish is exactly what it sounds like – the classic Disney Parks treat of a Mickey Waffle, stuffed full of fried chicken tenders!
The portion contains four of these wonderous waffles, served with a side of house potatoes drizzled in herb butter.
Doesn’t this just sound – and look – delicious?
We all love regular chicken and waffles, right? But making them into the shape of Mickey Mouse himself? Well, some might call that revolutionary. And we’d agree!
According to Miranda these waffles were, in a word, incredible.
The waffle itself was slightly crispier than normal, but this just complimented that fried chicken all the more perfectly. The balance between the amount of chicken and waffle was also perfection – and we’re sure we’ll all be coming back here to order this dish again!
If you’re looking to try this dish out for yourself, it costs $18 on the menu at Rix Sports Bar & Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
As there’s four waffles in the portion, as well as the potatoes, you could even share this one between two people. Whichever way you choose to enjoy it, however, we hope you love this dish as much as we did!
We can’t wait to see what ingenious, imaginative, and innovative new foodie concoction Disney come up with next!
