August 10th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the release of the final True-Life Documentary, the opening of a Walt Disney World restaurant, and the premiere of a Disney musical. So, let’s get started!
Duck Pimples Released (1945)
On this day in 1945, the Donald Duck cartoon Duck Pimples was released.
In the cartoon, Donald’s over-active imagination is set off by scary stories on the radio and in books.
R’coon Dawg Released (1951)
On this day in 1951, R’coon Dawg was released.
In the cartoon, Mickey and Pluto hunt for raccoons.
Jungle Cat Releasd (1960)
On this day in 1960, Disney’s True-Life Adventure Jungle Cat was released.
Narrated by Winston Hibler, the film chronicles the life of a female spotted jaguar in South America. The film was the last of the True-Life Adventures series.
Concourse Steak House Opens (1994)
On this day in 1994, The Concourse Steak House opened in Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort.
Located in the former location of the Concourse Grill, the restaurant operated until 2008.
The Lion King Section of Art of Animation Opens (2012)
On this day in 2012, the Lion King section of Disney’s Art of Animation hotel opened.
Based on the 1994 animated classic, the new area features African terrains and various Lion King characters.
Freaky Friday Airs (2018)
On this day in 2018, a musical version of Freaky Friday debuted on the Disney Channel
The film was Disney’s third adaptation of the Mary Rodgers book and starred Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Heidi Blickenstaff.
Disney Renames 20th Century Fox Television (2020)
On this day in 2020, Disney announced it was rebranding 20th Century Fox Television as Simply 20th Television.
That change was made after Disney completed its purchase of 20th Century Fox.
