Why We Love Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
When guests stay at Walt Disney World, they prefer to stay at a Disney hotel.
That’s the smart play for all the reasons I’ve previously discussed.
You want to get the best possible bang for your buck, though.
Guests shouldn’t stretch their budget for a hotel where they didn’t intend to spend much time.
Vacationers who stay at the parks most of the day should save on their resorts, and that’s why the various All-Star resorts exist.
Among them, I have a favorite. Here are five reasons I love Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.
The Theming
You can tell from the hotel’s name what its theme is.
Still, that theme, movies, exemplifies why you love Disney in the first place.
Who doesn’t remember early childhood memories of their first Disney movies?
We all did the same thing, whether we watched on VHS tapes, DVDs, Blu-Rays, or streaming.
We played the films so much that our parents came to hate those titles, especially the ones with music.
At All-Star Movies, each section represents a timeless celebration of a particular Disney film.
You’ll find theming Disney has based on 101 Dalmatians, Fantasia, Herbie The Love Bug, The Mighty Ducks, and Toy Story.
Some of you may be too young for a couple of those titles, but that’s the brilliant part about Disney entertainment!
You’re never too old to fall in love with Herbie or those plucky Mighty Ducks!
Everywhere you walk at this resort, you’ll discover small (or large) tributes to Disney classics.
For film lovers and diehard Disney fans, All-Star Movies stands above the other Value Tier resorts due to its theming.
The Price
Well, I’ll throw in a small caveat here. I understand why some of you may favor Disney’s Art of Animation Resort or Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Those resorts unquestionably offer more amenities, which is a conscious decision on the part of Disney management.
Most importantly, those two hotels share a Disney Skyliner station, a hugely significant amenity.
Those hotels cost substantially more, though. A quick glance at Art of Animation suggests that an average night’s stay here hovers around $300.
While I’m confident the experts at MickeyBlog can find you a better deal on many dates, there’s no point if you fall in the category I mentioned.
When you don’t spend much time at the hotel, you can stretch your vacation budget by staying somewhere cheaper.
Rack rates for All-Star Movies range from $128-$289. On many nights, you’ll save at least $100 by staying here.
For a multi-night visit, those savings add up quickly! You’re still getting Disney’s best amenities, like Early Theme Park Entry.
However, you’re paying MUCH less for them than guests staying at other Disney resorts.
The Pools
When you stay at All-Star resorts, you typically enjoy a choice of cleverly themed pools.
All-Star Movies offers two really good ones, The Duck Pond and the Fantasia Pool.
At the Fantasia Pool, Imagineers have recreated scenes and images from the beloved animated movie.
Sorcerer Mickey even “casts a spell” to cause water to shoot from a platform into the pool. It’s charming, and kids adore it.
The Duck Pond isn’t quite as good as the main pool, but it does feature one impressive visual.
There’s a wall-sized Mighty Ducks goalie mask that doubles as an excellent photo op.
I’d recommend Fantasia Pool for swimming, but I’m also a giant Disney classic movie nerd.
Recently Renovated Rooms
Some Disney fans will tell you that all the All-Star hotels and their rooms are about the same.
While I appreciate their point, it’s categorically untrue. That’s because Disney renovated All-Star Movies in 2021.
As MickeyBlog reported at the time, this resort was among the last to reopen after the pandemic.
Disney wouldn’t reopen All-Star Movies until March 2021. And management took full advantage of that downtime.
Disney redesigned these hotel rooms to increase their efficiency.
For example, each room comes with a Queen bed and a pull-down Queen bed.
When you hide the pull-down, you can fold part of its base into a table for a sitting area!
You’ll find clever touches like this throughout the room, and each of them differentiates All-Star Movies from the other Value Tier resorts.
World Premiere Food Court
All-Star Movies also comes with an ace in the hole, one final amenity that differentiates it from the other All-Star properties.
World Premiere Food Court is unquestionably the best Quick Service restaurant at any of the All-Star hotels.
Disney has themed this eatery like a movie lobby. It even has a ticket office!
You’ll notice lots of lights here, and the vibe will feel oddly familiar since you’ve often bought popcorn at similar places.
Despite the cineplex look and style, this place’s name specifically indicates what it is: a food court!
So, the robust menu will surely satisfy all members of your party, no matter how diverse their palates may be.
You should seriously consider taking a different approach, though.
Diehard Disney fans know about World Premiere Food Court’s secret menu! Here’s a video that shows how it works:
As you can see, ordering from the secret menu elevates the experience.
The cuisine targets foodies a bit more than the standard menu, but what’s life without a little adventure?
Folks, All-Star Movies falls under the radar a bit because of the cookie-cutter design of the various All-Star properties.
You shouldn’t overlook the obvious here, though. Disney vacations have experienced the same inflationary growth as everything else.
You can save money and thereby stretch your budget by staying here.
