‘The Marvels’ Will See The Return of A Rejuvenated Nick Fury

Much of the buildup around Secret Invasion was about whether or not Nick Fury would be able to rise to the occasion and defend Earth.

The Fury that we caught up with at the beginning of the series was a shell of his former self. The man who was formerly one step ahead of everybody had grown old.

Following “the blip,” Fury retreated to space, leaving behind friends and family that felt abandoned by him. When he returned, even stalwart allies like Talos and Maria said that he was no longer the Nick Fury they remembered.

By the end of Secret Invasion, however, Fury seemed to have found himself again. In the series’ penultimate episode, Fury put on his iconic coat and eye patch. It was a transformation that seemed to symbolize his return to power.

Stronger Than Ever

According to Ali Selim, when we next see Fury in November’s The Marvels, it will be a version of the character that is stronger than ever.

“I thought that was very important for him to come to that point where he understands where he is in the world now and what he needs to be to continue to be the new Nick Fury. And to send him off a little sense of: ‘I’ve reconciled that. Now I can do stronger and greater things,'” he said.

Here Come The Marvels

The Marvels will see Carol Danvers, Kamala Kahn, and Monica Rambeau team up to stop a Kree accuser bent on revenge.

At the end of Secret Invasion, Fury returned to his work in space with S.A.B.E.R. With the next threat to Earth coming from beyond the stars, he will quickly be pressed back into duty.

When Will The Marvels Hit Theaters?

As of now, The Marvels is set to open in theaters on November 10. With Hollywood shut down due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, however, rumors are swilling that Marvel may delay the film.
