Lee Jung-jae Talks Joining The Star Wars Universe For The Acolyte
When The Acolyte hits Disney+ next year, the show will take audiances into the Star Wars era of the High Republic.
There, viewers will find the galaxy at peace, and the Jedi at the height of their power. One of these Jedi will be portrayed by Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae, who is making his debut in a galaxy far, far away.

“I didn’t know that I’d be playing a Jedi master,” Jung-jae said through a translator. “And this is a huge opportunity, which I’m still extremely grateful for. And to be playing in a film that I really enjoyed watching is still surreal for me. I can’t believe I’m playing a Jedi master and I get to use a lightsaber!”
Joining A Galaxy, Far, Far Away
Like most Star Wars fans, Jung-jae has come to appreciate the depth and nuance of the Star Wars universe as he has grown older. That made his role all the more special.

“Back in the day, I thought it was just a cool film, full of surprises. Now as an older person, I realize the topics that they talk about are much deeper than what’s first perceived. And actually working on the project, I understand more of the themes and the topics that they talk about. And I really get to explore the emotions and express the themes and the topics very well.”
Knowing that he is entering a beloved franchise, and a project with a unique story to tell, Lee knows that there is a responsibility that comes with portraying a Jedi Master.
A Sense of Responsibility
“On the first day on set, I felt really excited going in, but day by day, as we go deep into the shooting, I have this responsibility that I really, really, really want to do this well. And I focus and concentrate on how I can do this better. So it’s not just fun.”
While it may not be all fun and games working on the upcoming Star Wars project, fans continue to be beyond excited for The Acolyte to finally arrive.
The series is expected to debut on Disney+ next year.
