A 4K Restoration of ‘Cinderella’ Will Hit Disney+ On August 25
While every Disney fan has their own personal favorite movie, there may not be more iconic Disney film than Cinderella.
The rags-to-riches story about a young girl who overcomes her evil stepmother to become a princess has entranced, inspired, and entertained audiences for generations.
Since its release, Cinderella and her animal friends have become symbols of Disney, and remain some of the company’s most memorable characters.
Saving Disney Studios
Released in 1950, Cinderella in many ways saved The Walt Disney Company. The film became the studio’s biggest box-office success since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and would propel Disney through the decade.
Since its release, Cinderella has continued to be one DIsney’s most enduring films. Cinderella Castle remains an enduring monument to the film’s popularity, while the heroine’s story and the music of the film have become synonymous with Disney.
Restoring Cinderella
As part of the Disney100 celebration, Disney is going through and restoring Cinderella frame by frame in 4K.
The new restoration was spearheaded by Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Preservation team. This includes the team that is currently working on a restoration of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Disney fans will get a chance to see the finished product when the 4k restoration of Cinderella hits Disney+ on August 25.
