Top 5 Myths About Taking Toddlers to Disney World
I’ve heard it plenty of times – “I am never taking toddlers to Disney World.” I probably even said it myself.
But you can take toddlers to Disney World! I did, and I learned a lot a lot of the arguments were wrong!
Reason 1 – They Can’t Do Anything
This is just false. There is so much the whole family can do together at Disney World!
Every theme park has attractions for all ages! These are just a few.
Magic Kingdom has It’s a Small World, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and many more!
At Hollywood Studios, everyone can enjoy rides like Toy Story Mania and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Epcot has the reputation as being an adult park, and adults definitely love it!
But don’t forget about family-friendly areas like The Living Seas. Not only can the whole family enjoy The Seas with Nemo and Friends, but also exploring the entire aquarium!
Animal Kingdom is definitely great for kids of all ages! I mean, what kid isn’t fascinated by animals?!
Take the whole family on Kilimanjaro Safaris to see some incredible animal friends! Even in Pandora, the whole family can enjoy Na’vi River Journey together.
Also, kids will love the shows at Disney World!
Festival of the Lion King has been a favorite of ours for a long time!
Another favorite of ours is Frozen Sing-Along at Hollywood Studios! It gives the kids a chance to sing along with some of their favorite songs, but includes humor to keep the adults laughing!
Plus, every park has the opportunity for kids and adults to see and meet their favorite characters!
Reason 2 – You Won’t Get to Ride Big Rides
This is also not true! There are ways to make sure the adults get to ride their favorites, too!
Genie+ is always an option to minimize waiting in line!
In addition to Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes, Disney has Rider Swap service available for families with little ones that don’t meet the height requirement.
This service gives the adult waiting with the little one(s) a chance to bypass the standby line and use the Lightning Lane after the other is finished riding.
Another option is to travel with friends or family so that you can take turns watching the littles and riding the rides!
Reason 3 – It’s too Exhausting
Listen, I won’t disagree that there’s a lot of ground to cover, which can be exhausting.
But it doesn’t have to be! There are definitely ways to plan your days to have the best time without overdoing it.
While every kid is different, you may find that they’ll take little naps in a stroller and it will help them get through the day.
Also, add in some indoor meals and shows to give everyone the breaks they need.
If you stay at a Disney Resort, it’s easy to just hop Disney Transportation to go back to your room for a little break in the afternoon, and head back to the parks at night for dinner and fireworks!
Plan a resort day or two to break up your park days and rest!
A day at the pool can be just as fun for the kids! As a bonus, Disney Resort pools have life jackets for kids in various sizes!
The best thing to keep in mind – Disney isn’t going anywhere! You don’t have to fit everything into one trip! You can always go back.
Reason 4 – It’s Not Worth the Money
Having taken my own kids at various cost stages, I admit that I miss when they were really little!
It may not sound like a huge savings, but it really is! And our days were just as full as when we didn’t have little ones in tow!
And as adults, we found a way to do everything we wanted.
Even After Hours Parties – When my youngest was 2, we went to our first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
We had so much fun with our family costumes, but we didn’t expect much for our youngest since he didn’t have paid admission.
But we were very wrong! He got everything that we got, including a huge bag of candy that almost weighed as much as he did!
Reason 5 – They Won’t Remember It
You know what? That’s right, they won’t.
But you know who will remember it? You will!
I remember the first time my kids met Mickey, and the first time they saw Cinderella Castle.
And I’ll never forget the first time they rode Kilimanjaro Safari and their amazement at seeing a giraffe up close.
We took so many pictures and made photobooks. Just from those books, they think they remember the trips!
But even though they don’t, we do. And we will cherish those memories forever.
So when considering taking a young child to Disney, don’t let other people’s opinions decide for you!
