Lady and the Tramp Released (1955)
On this day in 1955, Disney’s Lady and the Tramp was released.
The film told the romantic story of a streetwise mutt and a sheltered uptown Cocker Spaniel.
Disneyland by Starlite Kicks Off (1969)
On this day in 1969, Disneyland by Starlite kicked off.
The 7-day promotion gave guests more time in the park. That evening’s entertainment featured country music singer Roy Clark.
The Walt Disney Archives Established (1970)
On this day in 1970, The Walt Disney Archives was established.
Under the supervision of Dave Smith, the archives are tasked with recording and preserving the history of The Walt Disney Company.
Scandalous John Released (1971)
On this day in 1971, Disney released Scandalous John.
The film told the story of a crotchety old ranch owner named Jon McCanless.
The Rescueres Released (1977)
On this day in 1977, The Rescuers was released!
The film told the story of two mice from the Rescue Aid Society, who search for a little girl kidnapped by unscrupulous treasure hunters.
Videopolis Opens (1985)
On this day in 1985, Videopolis opened in Disneyland.
The high-tech outdoor entertainment venue opened in Fantasyland.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Released (1988)
On this day in 1988, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was released.
The film brought together animated characters from Disney, Universal, MGM, Republic, Turner Entertainment, and Warner Bros. It also marked the first onscreen pairing of Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny.
Herbie: Fully Loaded Released (2005)
On this day in 2005, Herbie: Fully Loaded was released.
The film starred Lindsay Lohan as the youngest member of an automobile-racing family.
Updated American Adventure Opens (2007)
On this day in 2007, the updated American Adventure opened.
While the attraction remained essentially the same, the closing montage was updated to include current events.
Ratatouille Premiered (2007)
On this day in 2007, Ratatouille premiered in Hollywood California.
The film told the story of a talented rodent who dreams of one day becoming a chef.
Brave Released (2012)
On this day in 2012, Brave was released in theaters.
The film told the story of a skilled Scottish archer named Merida, who defies an age-old custom and causes chaos in her kingdom.
The Lone Langer Premieres (2013)
On this day in 2013, The Lone Ranger premiered at Disney California Adventure.
On hand for the festivities were stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, and director Gore Verbinski.
Captain EO Closes (2014)
On this day in 2014, Captain EO closed at Disneyland.
The 3D film originally ran from 1986 until 1997, before returning again on February 23, 2010.
