Disney Parks Around the Globe Celebrate International Yoga Day
Today is International Yoga Day and Disney Parks around the world started the day off with cast member yoga sessions! Scenes like this aren’t unusual for Disney! The company started its first Walt Disney World yoga event back in 2016.
Since the inception of the theme park yoga events, two cast members have had the honor of sharing skills and leading cast members through a mindful yoga activity. Husband-and-wife team Adam and Dana were at Magic Kingdom before the park even opened to lead cast members through the sunrise yoga experience!
“From the castle stage, we have a one-of-a-kind perspective of how this experience impacts our cast; it’s a special blend of yoga practice and a magical environment coming together,” said Adam. “We are incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to share the gift of yoga with our fellow cast members in such a unique and inspirational way.”
Adam and Dana actually met while working at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Adam is now a manager in Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products’ Wellness team. The cast member just celebrated 30 years with the company and Dana also still works in Disney Casting as a recruiter.
“It’s truly the best thing ever,” Dana said, “being such Disney fans ourselves, to share in this experience with each other and to teach yoga in this setting in incredible.”
But Disney World wasn’t the only place celebrating International Yoga Day, Disney parks and resorts around the globe come together each year on June 21st to mark the occasion with cast-focused yoga events in iconic Disney locations.
Above is an image of Shinobu Tygi who is a yoga instructor at Disneyland Resort. She led an event to celebrate International Yoga Day at Disneyland to help cast members along on their personal wellness journey!
“It is exciting to know that our cast are choosing to participate in yoga, because self-care is so important,” Shinobu said. “As a yoga instructor, I would like all our cast to feel the impact of yoga on their physical and mental well-being — not just during the event, but also after the event, and into their daily lives.”
For cast members unable to make it to the parks for an early AM event, Disney also offered cast members an exclusive online yoga class.
