The Launch of Disney Lorcana Could Be Delayed
Yesterday we brought you news that trading card company Upper Deck was suing rival Ravensburger over the upcoming Disney Lorcana game.
The lawsuit alleges that former Upper Deck game designer Ryan Miller created a game called Rush of Ikorr when working for the company. The company alleges that he then quit the project after a year and a half to go work with Ravensburger.
Upper Deck is alleging that Miller transformed his work on Rush of Ikorr to Disney Lorcana. In their complaint, they note that while Rush of Ikorr had yet to be publicly announced, the rules of the game were nearly identical to Lorcana.
“We invested significant time and resources to develop a new and novel trading card game. Our current leadership values the importance of protecting intellectual property of both Upper Deck and its licensors.” Upper Deck President Jason Masherah said.

Lorcana’s Launch Could Be Delayed
While Disney was not mentioned in the suit, the pending litigation could postpone the high anticipated game’s release date.
Currently, Disney Lorcana is expected to hit shelves on August 18.
Upper Deck however, is seeking an injunction that would stop Ravensburger from publicly releasing Lorcana.
“We want gamers and fans to continue enjoying and having access to unique, innovative and immersive trading card games.” Masherah continued. “We encourage competition in the industry. But also strongly believe in playing by the rules to ensure the gaming community benefits from the different creative choices by each manufacturer.”
