Disney World’s New Mike Wazowski Mousse is Cute…But Also Very Weird
Who’s ready to see the cutest new treat at Walt Disney World? We know we are!
As part of the Disney100 anniversary extravaganza, Disney is taking a moment to celebrate “The Wonder of Pixar,” by releasing a series of colorful, character-inspired merchandise, treats, and experiences across the parks and beyond.
In the Magic Kingdom, one of these new treats comes in the form of what may be the sweetest snack ever, which our MickeyBlogger Melissa tested out for us today.
Wanna check it out with us? Well first, you’ll have to meet us over at the most pun-tastic dining location to be found in the park…
The Lunching Pad!
Honestly, every time I lay eyes on this Tomorrowland food kiosk I have a little chuckle to myself at the name. It’s just so iconic.
Anyway, the item that we’re here today to discuss is this simply adorable little fellow: the Mike Wazowski Cake.
Just like the fun-loving monster himself, this treat is bright green, perfectly spherical, and features a single, beady eye peering out from the side of his face. We love him!
According to the menu, this unusual new treat is actually an orange blossom-mango mousse cake, finished with a candy eye for decoration.
Before we even begin to think about tasting these unique flavors, however, we have to take a moment to appreciate how incredibly adorable and photogenic Mike here is. We’re sure to be seeing loads of these fill our feeds over the next few weeks, and honestly, we’re here for it!
Unfortunately, however, you can see from the photos Melissa took that Mike is starting to sweat a tad and even crack under that hot Florida heat.
It’s not quite the look we were hoping for, to be honest!
So, let’s get into the shade of the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor and dig in!
Just a quick warning, however – this next photo is a bit graphic! I don’t know what it is about it, but seeing the gooey, orange insides of one of my favorite Pixar characters in dessert form just makes me feel a bit… funny. Yikes!
Unfortunately, Melissa’s review of the Mike Cake wasn’t as positive as we’d hoped for from here. While she agreed that the treat was certainly a cute one, the texture was just a bit too “weird” for her to enjoy.
Disappointingly, the green/white chocolate outer shell of the cake melted almost immediately, allowing barely enough time for us to take photos. The rest of the treat also didn’t hold up well in the Florida climate, either, with the mouse melting into a runny, sticky mess immediately upon getting the sphere open.
Oh no!
Flavor-wise, Melissa did say that the orangey, mangoey goo filling was tasty, just a bit too messy to properly enjoy. The mousse itself was plain vanilla, so nothing too outlandish there.
In conclusion, we’re not too sure we’d recommend this to our readers. Especially for the rather hefty price tag of $8.29, we’d probably suggest you’re better off trying some of the tastier new treats about the Magic Kingdom instead, such as this Pride Mickey Cake Pop from over at Sleepy Hollow!
