Tom Sawyer Island Under Construction at Disneyland
Tomorrow, work begins to transform Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Nearby, in Frontierland, Tom Sawyer Island is under construction.
Tom Sawyer Island
Tom Sawyer Island is a special place for many reasons. In addition to being a fantastic spot for littles to run around and explore, it offers some peaceful and scenic areas to just sit and enjoy the Park.
in addition, Disneyland’s Tom Sawyer Island has sentimental ties to Walt Disney. It’s the only one designed by Walt himself. (Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland have their own versions.)
Under Construction
Upon our visit to Disneyland today, our MickeyBlogger noticed construction at the front of the island. Fans will recognize this as the spot where the Maleficent dragon recently went ablaze during a Fantasmic! performance.
As reported in a previous article, Disneyland announced that the nighttime spectacular would remain closed until “at least” Labor Day. (September 4, 2023)
Although we can’t confirm what’s being worked on today, it’s possible that it relates to the incident.
After the fire, Disneyland released a statement assuring fans, “The continued safety of our cast and guests is of the utmost importance.”
As you can see, several construction workers are at the site in bright-colored vests.
Discussion is underway as plans are evaluated.
Aside from the construction, and Splash Mountain’s final day, things are going along as usual at the Happiest Place on Earth!
The iconic Mark Twain Riverboat is making the rounds and a cheerful tune can be heard in the background.
There’s never a dull moment in Southern California’s Disney Theme Parks! Keep following along as we share the latest from Splash Mountain on its final day of operation.
