Walt Disney World Wait Times for Mother’s Day Week 2023
May is historically one of the slower seasons at Walt Disney World, which explains why most of my social media memories today are from previous visits.
Alas, I’m not at Disney today, and you probably aren’t, either. So, let’s see what we’re missing!
Here are Walt Disney World’s wait times for the second week of May in 2023, which was also Mother’s Day Week.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Those of you who have read MickeyBlog this past week know that we chronicled small crowds at various parks.
Here are some images one of our MickeyBloggers captured from an empty Magic Kingdom.
Of course, as Disney veterans know, park crowd sizes can change in the blink of an eye.

For this reason, I’m always curious whether a trend lasts for the whole week. And frankly, we could use a shake-up.
Animal Kingdom attractions have required the same average wait for three straight weeks, which is something I’ve never witnessed in all my years of doing this.

Here were the average waits for Animal Kingdom last week:
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 73 minutes, down 11
- Na’vi River Journey – 69 minutes, no change
- Adventurers Outpost – 39 minutes, down 2
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 31 minutes, down 4

Okay, you can tell from the data that wait times have dropped this week, just as our pictures and live reports on the ground indicated.
Guests waited for an average of 34 minutes this past week, four minutes less than each of the previous three weeks.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Did this trend continue at Hollywood Studios? Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect, as the park reintroduced Pixar Place on Sunday.
The new area is spectacular and should entice guests to spend time interacting with the characters.
However, at most, that reopening would impact a couple of days of data. Also, Sunday was Mother’s Day, a popular holiday at the parks.
So, some conflicting park trends are at work against the otherwise slow season. And here’s how it all turned out!

These are the average waits at Hollywood Studios this past week:
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 85 minutes, up 10
- Slinky Dog Dash – 70 minutes, down 8
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 58 minutes, down 5
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 56 minutes, down 2
- Toy Story Mania! – 53 minutes, down 2
- Red Carpet Dreams – 39 minutes, no change

- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 10 minutes, down 2
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – 10 minutes, down 6
Let me be clear, folks. Based on what I’m seeing here, THIS is the time to visit Walt Disney World!
Guests at Hollywood Studios waited for an average of 38 minutes per attraction, which is about the lowest line time this park has had this year.
That total also shows a drop of three minutes per attraction from the previous week. Crowds definitely seem smaller than last time.
EPCOT

Since the introduction of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, EPCOT’s crowd behavior has evolved a bit.
Previously, the park typically required the least average line time of any at Walt Disney World. Now, the answer varies by the week.
