PHOTOS: Baby Gorilla Leaves Mom’s Back to Play with Siblings!

Animal Kingdom’s youngest gorilla is growing up…right before our eyes!

Since Azizi’s birth last August, the baby has stayed very close to her mother. Now quickly approaching their big first birthday, Azizi is slowly venturing away from the safety of mom’s back and has begun to explore the surroundings!

Just the other day, we were fortunate enough to spot Azizi engage in a playdate with older sister Grace. We couldn’t believe our luck!

Grace playfully wrestled with her youngest sibling, ensuring that both Aziz had a great time and stayed uninjured. Mom was only about 30 ft. away from the play area and kept a close watch on both of her children as they played.

Mom clearly trusts Grace to play gently, as she turned her back on the siblings during their play. All of this took place in the span of 45 seconds though, as Azizi is still only taking very short trips away from mom for now. Aziz is pictured below, back safely on Mom’s shoulder!
