Former Disney Executive Dave Hollis Died of Accidental Overdose
The cause of death for former Disney executive Dave Hollis has been confirmed.
Hollis was found unresponsive last February, and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Now, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office is reporting that Hollis had a lethal amount of cocaine, fentanyl, and alcohol in his system when he died. He was 47.
Hollis also had a history of drug and alcohol abuse according to the Medical Examiner, in addition to high blood pressure and depression.

In May 2022, Hollis wrote a blog about being four months sober stating, “I use an app that counts the number of days since I last had a drink. …I plan to have it counting forever, but am only focused on today,”.

Hollis rose to fame in the business world when he led theatrical distribution at the Walt Disney Company from 2011 until 2018.

His reign saw the release of blockbuster movies from Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Walt Disney Animation. During the executive’s watchful eye, Disney became the first studio to gross $7 billion globally at the box office in a single year.

Hollis abruptly left Disney in 2018 to run his then-wife’s company Chic Media.

“I can’t count the number of ‘pinch-me’ moments I’ve had in my time at Disney,” Hollis said in 2018 when he left the company. “In a world where so few opportunities could compare, the chance to support my wife and help grow her company was something I couldn’t pass up.”
Rachel Hollis, best known for writing the book Girl, Wash Your Face, is an author, motivational speaker, and influencer.
Following his departure from Disney, Hollis moved his family to Texas. He also hosted a podcast called Rise Together and wrote two self-help books.
While Rachel Hollis has not commented on the medical examiner’s finding, she did release a statement shortly following Dave Hollis’ death.
“We are devastated. I have no words and my heart is too broken to find them. Please wrap the kids in prayers as we try and navigate through the unthinkable,” she posted.
