VIDEO: Watch Ursula “Make a Deal” With Ariel in New ‘Little Mermaid’ Clip
Here at MickeyBlog, we can’t wait to watch the live-action version of The Little Mermaid!
The newest version of The Little Mermaid will release in theaters on May 26th, and we’ve been soaking in every preview and sneak peek Disney has released so far, such as photos, trailers, and more. And now we have a bit more behind-the-scenes Mermaid news!
New Songs
In case you missed it, Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of musicals such as Hamilton and In The Heights, has written new songs that will be featured in The Little Mermaid. These songs are in addition to Howard Ashman and Alan Menken’s original score.
Miranda’s new songs include “For the First Time” for Ariel, “Wild Uncharted Waters” for Prince Eric, and “Scuttlebutt” for Scuttle.
There will also be some changes to the original score, with Alan Menken telling Vanity Fair that “Kiss the Girl” lyrics will now include consent, and “Poor Unfortunate Souls” will include new lyrics that no longer encourage girls to be silent.
A World Reimagined
And if you can’t get enough of The Little Mermaid previews, Disney just released a behind-the-scenes video called “A World Reimagined,” which includes appearances from Halle Bailey (Ariel), Melissa McCarthy (Ursula), and Awkwafina (Scuttle), and they also added a small snippet of a scene with Ursula and Ariel.
