Daveed Diggs voices Sebastian in The Little Mermaid.
He is shown here with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who composed lyrics for an original song called “Scuttlebutt.” This is a brand new duet sung by Sebastian and Scuttle.
2023 Disney
Grammy nominee Halle Bailey plays Ariel in the new film.
She is shown saving Prince Eric from drowning in a shipwreck during a massive thunderstorm. This chance encounter is the start of their love story.

Hauer-King (playing the role of Eric) describes Ariel and Eric as “kindred spirits” and good friends in the movie.

“I really understood him as this very adventurous but quite restless spirit who didn’t feel fully at home in his own home, and felt quite trapped and restricted behind the four walls of the castle, and was really about looking outwards rather than inwards.”
