Well, West Coast Disney fans, the long-awaited news has finally arrived. Today, Disneyland officially released the closing date for Splash Mountain.
Splash Mountain
I have to be honest with you, I wasn’t sure this day would ever come. I was beginning to wonder if there was a change of plans, and what Disney might be up to.

After all, Splash Mountain has been closed on the East Coast since January. Disney World’s version officially shut down on January 23, 2023.
Since then, construction employees have been hard at work, transforming it into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Speaking of which, Disney just gave fans a new look at what they can expect from the future attraction.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Splash Mountain will transform into a The Princess and the Frog theme at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The reimagined ride is set to open on both the East and West Coasts in late 2024.
Disney shares, “The enchantment of the bayou will illuminate with a celebration during Mardi Gras season hosted by Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen.” We just learned that a special character would be reprising her role!
Mama Odie will interact with Guests as they sail through the attraction. Check out our recent article for more information!
Closing Date
But, enough of that, we’ve kept you waiting long enough! If you’re a fan of the original Splash Mountain, make sure to head to the attraction soon.
It closes on May 31, 2023. This is a huge deal, as the ride is almost 34 years old.

It first opened in Disneyland’s Critter Country on July 17, 1989. Walt Disney World followed suit shortly after, with its version opening in Magic Kingdom in 1992.
Luckily, the essence of the ride will remain. Splash Mountain isn’t really leaving, it’s just transforming.
