Orlando Man Answers “Who Is Walt Disney?” To Win Jeopardy!
Sometimes it pays to be a huge Disney fan.
Or at least it did for one Orlando resident who used his knowledge of Disney history to take home $23,800 dollars and become the Jeopardy champion!
Here’s What Happened
Orlando native and writer Robbi Ramirez recently appeared on Jeopardy and had a large but not insurmountable lead going into the Final Jeopardy round.
The category for the day’s final question was Famous Names.
Ken Jennings then read the game’s final clue: “In 1966, the year of his death, he shared plans for an experimental prototype community in Florida.”
The question, of course, was referring to Walt Disney and his Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, or EPCOT. I can only assume thousands of Disney fans were yelling the correct answer at their television screens.
Following the revelation that both of his competitors got the answer correct, Ramirez needed to answer “Walt Disney” in order to win the game. Would the Orlando native let his community down?
Disney Knowledge Comes In Handy
He would not. Ramirez looked calm as Jennings asked for his answer, before revealing that he too answered “Walt Disney.”
The Orlando kid had won, taking home $23,800 and a chance to compete in another game of Jeopardy.
“He’s the winner,” Jennings said. “Maybe he’s going to Disney World.”
Robbi Ramirez got to live out every Disney fan’s dream, showcasing our library of useless knowledge and doing it on the national stage. I, for one, hope he does go to Walt Disney World. He earned it.
