Five Fabulous Ways Disney World Celebrated Its 50th Anniversary
Disney World’s 18 month, 50th Anniversary Celebration officially ended last night (March 31, 2023.) What an incredible 18 months it was as Disney World pulled out all of the stops for an unprecedented celebration. Since we’re feeling nostalgic, we thought we’d reminisce over some of our favorite 50th Anniversary Moments.
Here’s five things we’ll remember fondly about Disney World’s 50th Anniversary:

Cast Members Were The Cornerstone
Disney World’s incredible cast members were at the heart of the 18 month 50th Anniversary Celebration. Cast members received special 50th Anniversary badges. Disney also dedicated a beautiful plaque to cast members in the HUB near Cinderella Castle. We’re also told that Disney World created a special “pixie-patrol” that would surprise cast members across property with special EARidescent surprises!
EARidescent EVERYTHING
EARidescent was the official colorway of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and it was everywhere. Beautiful 50th Anniversary embellishments were added to Cinderella Castle. In addition, once the sun went down, each of the iconic landmarks across Disney World’s four theme parks would light up in Beacons of Magic. From EARidescent banners on Main Street to incredible merch with the sparkly pastel colorway, we’ll miss the special 50th Anniversary theming.
The Disney Fab 50 Collection
Each of Disney World’s four theme parks were host to an array of fun golden sculptures celebrating 50 beloved characters. Thankfully, guests that haven’t had a chance to see these cute celebratory critters over the last 18 months may still have a chance. Disney has hinted that they’ll be keeping the Fab 50 statues in the park after the celebration, though we aren’t sure for how long.
A Celebration for the Whole Community
The 50th Anniversary celebration wasn’t just limited to the the gates of Walt Disney World. Floridians were given the chance to purchase 50th Anniversary license plates. This incredible initiative raised $1.5 million for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Northern Florida. If you have yet to get your 50th Anniversary license plate, there are a limited amount left. Head to your County Tax Collector’s Office to get yours!
The license plates were just one of many ways that Disney World gave back to the communities over the last 18 months. As a matter of fact, Disney raised over $6.5 million in grants to 60+ non-profits and Disney Cast Members volunteered more than 233,000 hours at local organizations through their VoluntEARS program.
New Magical Additions
Not only was Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration a time to look back over 5 decades of Disney magic but it was also a time of looking toward the future and this included some exciting new additions. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened at EPCOT along with Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser and most recently Roundup Rodeo BBQ at Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
