BREAKING: Union Votes to Approve Disney Cast Member Wage Raise Proposal
Cast Members have voted on Disney’s latest contract proposal. The negotiations have been going on for months, with Cast Members fighting for higher pay in Disney World.
The previous offer from Disney was rejected, but now we have the results of the latest proposal.
Union Members Approve Disney Deal
Service Trades Council Union members have voted on Disney’s largest contract proposal. The votes are in, and over 12,000 union members voted — with over 97% of them voting to approve the proposal!
This new agreement will see all Cast Members get paid at least $18 per hour. The contract will also provide $5.50 in raises over the next five years.
President of Unite Here Local 362, Eric Clinton, previously spoke about how this money will be life-changing.
“If this gets approved tomorrow and people wake up on Thursday morning, they’re going to be making $2 an hour more than they were the day before,” Clinton said. “That right there is $80 a week or $320 a month.”
Union members had rejected an offer from Disney previously that would’ve been a $1 per hour raise for Cast Members.
President of Walt Disney World, Jeff Vahle, recently said in a statement, “Our cast members are central to Walt Disney World’s enduring magic, which is why we are pleased to have reached this tentative agreement. Disney is proud to offer an industry-leading employment package that includes comprehensive benefits and affordable medical coverage, in addition to 100% paid tuition for higher education for hourly employees through the Disney Aspire program.”
