Welcome back to our continuing journey through the history of the Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- March 24.
March 24th featured the debut of a Disneyland classic attraction, the premiere of a fan-favorite Disney Channel show, and the end of the line for two Disneyland Paris entertainment productions. So, let’s get going!
Funny Little Bunnies Released (1934)
On this day in 1934, the Silly Symphony Funny Little Bunnies was released.
The cartoon was an Easter-themed short, telling the story of a magical land where bunnies make eggs and candy for Easter!
Crazy Over Daisy Released (1950)
On this day in 1950, the Donald Duck short Crazy Over Daisy was released.
In the cartoon Donald attempts to get a revenge on Chip ‘n’ Dale for ruining his bike on a trip to Daisy’s house.
Astro-Jets Opnes (1956)
On this day in 1956, the Astro-Jets opened in Tomorrowland.
The hub-and-spoke attraction was a forerunner to today’s Astro Orbiter.
The Country Bear Jamboree Opens (1972)
On this day in 1972, the Disneyland version of the Country Bear Jamboree opened in Bear Country.
The Audio-Animatronic musical revue was added to Disneyland after proving to me immensely popular in the Magic Kingdom.
Disney And France Sign Agreement (1987)
On this day in 1987, Michael Eisner and French Prime Minister Jacques Chirac signed the Euro Disney protocol.
The agreement allowed Disney to construction the Disneyland Resort Paris in France.
Hannah Montana Debuts (2006)
On this day in 2006, Hannah Montana debuted on the Disney Channel.
The show starred Miley Cyrus as Miley Stewart/ Hannah Montana, a normal girl who lives a double life and an international pop star.
Cow Bells Airs (2006)
Also on this day in 2006, the Disney Channel Original Movie Cow Belles aired.
The film starred Alyson and Amanda Michalka as two sisters who move to their father’s farm.
Disney Magic On Parade Ends (2017)
On this day in 2017, Disney Magic On Parade ended its run at Disneyland Paris.
The parade had been running since April 2012.
Disney Dreams! Ends (2017)
Also on this day in 2017, Disney Dreams! ended at Disneyland Paris.
The nighttime spectacular was replaced by Disney Illuminations.
Live and Maddie: Cali Style Ends (2017)
Also on this day in 2017, the Disney Channel sitcom Liv and Maddie: Cali Style ended.
The show originally debuted in 2013 as Liv and Maddie.
Disney + Launches in Europe (2020)
On this day in 2020, Disney + launched in Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Disney’s streaming service had been operating in the United States since November 2019.
