Steven Knight To Write The Next Star Wars Film
When news broke that screenwriters Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Hibson had exited the untitled Star Wears movie helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, many wondered what that meant for the future of a galaxy far, far away.
Obaid-Chinoy’s project is widely expected to be the next “Star Wars” film released. It will be the first since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER
Although an official announcement for the project has yet to be announced, there has been some new news today.
Steven Knight Join Project
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will write the screenplay for the film, Variety has confirmed.
In addition to his creation of Peaky Blinders, Knight is also a veteran screenwriter, whose work includes Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises, The Hundred-Foot Journey, and Allied.
Over the past few months, a number of potential Star Wars films seemed to have fallen through. Earlier in March, potential films including Patty Jenkins’ Rouge Squadron and a possible Kevin Feige film were both confirmed to have been shelved.
Announcement Upcoming?
While the next Star Wars film has yet to be announced, many insiders have pointed to next month’s Star Wars Celebration Europe as the most likely place for an announcement.
Regardless of whether or not an announcement is forthcoming, time is ticking for Lucasfilm. According to Disney’s release schedule, the next Star Wars film will hit theaters in December of 2025.
