See How TRON’s Soft Opening Impacted Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom
We’ve been waiting literal YEARS for TRON Lightcycle / Run to finally open in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. And, we’re getting so so close!

People have been able to get on the ride during previews, and we’ve seen it during a special media event, but the grand opening will not be until next month.

However, there is still a way for you to get on the ride early!
TRON Soft Opening
TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens on April 4th, but you can get on the ride during its soft opening. The soft opening is happening from March 20th-April 2nd.
During this time period, the ride will be operating on more limited hours than the rest of the rides in Magic Kingdom. For example, today (the first day of the soft opening), TRON is only available from 9AM to 6PM.

And, the only way you can get on the ride is by using the virtual queue or by buying an Individual Lightning Lane. There is no normal standby line (nor will there be one when TRON officially opens).

The virtual queue goes FAST, so you have to be ready. It opens up at 7AM for people with a Magic Kingdom theme park reservation, and again at 1PM, but only if you’re in the park.

You may also only enter the virtual queue once per day during the soft opening.

If you miss out on the virtual queue, the only other option is to buy an Individual Lightning Lane. The Lightning Lane for TRON on its first day of its soft opening was $20 per person. Do note that these can also sell out and can change depending on the day.
Opening Day
We went over to Magic Kingdom to check out what Tomorrowland would be like on the first day of this soft opening. Since it’s a virtual queue, we didn’t expect the area to be too crowded.

And, we were right! Once we got into Tomorrowland, we saw signs with arrows pointing you in the right direction for TRON.

TRON event check-in
So, if you are able to get into the virtual queue or snag an Individual Lightning Lane, just follow these signs that say “event check-in” with the arrows to get where you need to go!
A Cast Member should be there to check you in so that you can go get on the ride. You might still have to wait in a smaller line with the other people physically waiting to ride TRON once you scan in for the virtual queue (like how it’s been working with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind).
There were still a decent amount of people around, but that might’ve been due to Space Mountain being closed this morning. The ride has since reopened.
The exit for the ride right now is not in Tomorrowland, though — it’s all the way over in Fantasyland! The exit puts you out right by The Barnstormer.
So, this is what you can expect during TRON’s soft opening period. To learn more, you can check out exactly how Lightning Lane access works right here.
