This Day in Disney History- March 11
Welcome back to our continuing journey through the history of the Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- March 11.
March 11th was a big day for Disney films, with the release of a Winnie the Pooh film, a box office bomb and a new Pixar movie. So, lets get started!
Donald’s Better Self Released (1938)
On this day in 1938, Donald Duck cartoon Donald’s Better Self was released.
The cartoon featured schoolboy Donald torn between his angel and devil sides.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Released (1977)
On this day in 1977, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was released.
The compilation film featured Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too.
Trenchcoat Released (1983)
On this day in 1983, Trenchcoat was released.
The film starred Margot Kidder as an aspiring mystery writer who travels to Malta and falls in love.
The Mulan Parade Ends (2001)
On this day in 2001, the Mulan Parade was performed for the final time at the Disney-MGM Studios.
The procession was a celebration of Disney’s Mulan.
Buffalo Dreams Airs (2005)
On this day in 2005, the Disney Channel Original Movie Buffalo Dreams aired.
The film told the story of Josh Townsend, a young buy who moves to New Mexico. While there he becomes involved with a group of teens who are attempting preserve Navajo traditions.
Mars Needs Moms Released (2011)
On this day in 2011, Mars needs Moms was released.
The film told a story of a young boy named Milo, who’s mother is abducted by Martians.
Dumbo Premieres (2019)
On this day in 2019, Disney’s live action Dumbo had its world premiere at the Ray Roldby Ballroom in Los Angeles.
Directed by Tim Burton, the film starred Colin Farrel, Michael Keaton, Danny Devito, Eva Green and Alan Arkin.
Turning Red Released (2022)
Finally, on this day in 2022, Turing Red was released on Disney +.
The film told the story of 12 year old Meilin “Mei” Lee who transforms into a giant red panda when she expresses strong emotion.
