Disney Imagineering Legend Rolly Crump Celebrates 93rd Birthday
An iconic Disney Legend is celebrating a special birthday. Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump turns 93 years old today!

Rolly Crump was born on February 27, 1930, in Alhambra, California. In 1952, he joined The Walt Disney Studios!

At the beginning of his Disney career, he worked extra jobs on the weekends just to make ends meet. Before starting at Disney, he was a ceramic factory dipper, taking a pay cut to follow his dreams.
He started as an in-between artist, working his way up to assistant animator. Crump worked on iconic Disney films such as Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, and Sleeping Beauty.

Rolly joined Walt Disney Imagineering in 1959. He was a key designer on Disneyland projects like the Haunted Mansion, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Adventureland Bazaar.
At the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, he was a key designer on featured Disney attractions such as “it’s a small world.” After it moved to Disneyland in 1966, he designed its iconic animated clock, a landmark of the Fantasyland area.

He also contributed to Magic Kingdom’s initial design at Disney World. In 1976, he was a project designer for The Land and the Wonders of Life pavilions at EPCOT.
Crump was also involved in Disneyland’s expansion plan through 1981. In 1996, Rolly retired from The Walt Disney Company, although he continued with his own creative ventures.

He released It’s Kind of a Cute Story, an autobiography, in 2012. Earlier, D23 wished the Disney icon the best on his special day!
