Idris Elba’s Wife Tests Positive For COVID-19 Week After Husband’s Diagnosis
Earlier this week, we here at MickeyBlog shared the unfortunate news that Marvel Actor Idris Elba had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Though showing no symptoms he was advised to self-quarantine for the mandatory 14 days.
Yesterday evening during a Facetime with Oprah, Elba’s wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba also shared that she has a positive diagnosis for the virus. The interview was a part of Winfrey’s “Oprah Talks COVID-19” Apple TV+ series.
During the interview, Dhowre Elba was joined by her husband. A clip of the interview was posted on Oprah’s Instagram account. You can check it out below.

Like millions of people all over the world, I've been staying safer at home for over a week now. I know a lot of people are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and uncertain. Because of that, I wanted to offer some hope and gather thought leaders and people going through it to add some perspective. Which is why I FaceTimed Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina who are safely quarantined together after he tested positive for COVID-19. Idris fills me in on his journey and Sabrina reveals the result of her test after they decided to quarantine together. Dhowre Elba told Oprah she wasn’t surprised by the diagnosis because of her close proximity to her husband, “I wanted to be with him,” she said. “That’s the instinct of a wife. You want to go and take care.” Like her husband, Dhowre Elba said she felt fine, stating, “I don’t feel anything that would come to what people would now expect to be a symptom of coronavirus, which is really strange.” However, she did caution, “It might change in the coming weeks, and we’ll keep everyone updated.”
The couple posted a Twitter Live video last week where they admitted they took a “calculated risk” by staying in the same residence. “It was weird because people were criticizing her for being next to me (in the video where he announced he had coronavirus) and that was bananas,” he said. “I think that took a little bit of a mental strain on both of us. We didn’t expect that.”
The couple married in April 2019.
