Fabulous Ways that Shanghai Disney and Hong Kong Disney are Celebrating Lunar New Year
Ready for something truly dazzling! Disney recently provided us with a first look at how Lunar New Year is celebrated at Hong Kong Disney and Shanghai Disney and all we can say is WOW!
So let’s dive in to how the Year of the Rabbit is being celebrated at Disney parks internationally.
1. New Outfits and Photo Moments Await
Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip n’ Dale at Hong Kong Disneyland can be seen at the parks donning their Lunar New Year-themed outfits.
Over at Shanghai Disney Resort Duffy and Friends also get in on the fun with some Spring Festival looks!
Over at Shanghai Disney Resort, Disney can also take photos at designated selfie spots which will feature characters in their stunning seasonal attire. This takes place during the Disney Winter Magic Cavalcade.
We can’t think of a better character to help us ring in the Year of the Rabbit than Judy Hopps from Zootopia. Be on the lookout for Judy at Shanghai Disney Resort. Best of all, Judy is also getting her own mosaic among the twelve zodiac signs in the Garden of the Twelve Friends.
Also have your cameras at the ready for special photo moments with Duffy’s good friend – StellaLou at Hong Kong Disneyland. You’ll spot her in her bright red dress along with LinaBell.
2. Feast on Flavorful Food
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Disney’s international parks get some of the most amazing treats! Lunar New Year is no exception, Disney’s culinary wizards have created a special array of eats and treats! A great example is over at Hong Kong Disneyland where you can grab a special StellaLou-themed drink in honor of the Year of the Rabbit.
Hong Kong Disneyland is also serving up the “Abalone Lo Hei” which is a popular dish that means “tossing up good fortune.”
Over at Shanghai Disney Resort, they are serving up a Spring Festival Tea for Two, a Royal Banquet Hall Spring Festival Family Feast and more.
We are positively smitten with the new Disney StellaLou Train Popcorn Bucket.
Above is also a look at the most adorable rabbit-shaped Donald tumbler.
3. Awesome Lunar New Year Entertainment
Those in search of a great show can end your evening at Shanghai Disney Resort with a new fireworks extravaganza- “Our Families.” The show features a dynamic array of special fireworks designed to spell out “Rabbit” in Chinese characters.
In addition, the Lion King Dance is returning to the Gardens of Imagination at Shanghai Disney which is intended to bring good fortune to all guests who set eyes on the lucky lion.
Additionally guests will also want to check out the Spring Festival Drum Ceremony. Here Judy Hopps joined by Mickey and Friends are sure to keep guests thumping to the beat.
Each of these awesome entertainment options will be available starting on February 5th.
4. Be Enchanted by Seasonal Decorations
Disney really outdoes itself when it comes to decorating for Lunar New Year. Hong Kong Disneyland comes to life with dreamlike lanterns, magic-infused Fai Chu and a colorful flourish of flowers. Guests who enter the park from the first to fourth day of Lunar New Year will receive a Lucky StellaLou 3D Lai See.
The har-raising reward contains chocolate gold coins as well as dining and shopping coupons.
5. Shower Loved Ones with Lunar New Year Themed Gifts
You can give a gift go good luck to friends and family with new merchandise available at both Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disney Resort.
Highlights include a Stella Lou cross body bag or a Spring Festival Mickey knitted cross body bag. There’s also fun new ways to stay cozy with fuzzy StellaLou outwear or a LinaBell sweater.
