4 Reasons Why New Orleans is the Perfect Port to Sail From
This February and March 2023, the Disney Magic will be departing on 4-, 5-, and 6-night cruises to the Western Caribbean from New Orleans for the first time ever! With mouth-watering food, live music, and that special NOLA magic, New Orleans is one of my favorite ports to sail from on your next Disney Cruise Line vacation, and here are 10 reasons why:

1. Sip and Savor New Orleans
Let’s start with the good stuff – the food! Home to po’boys, beignets, and more, New Orleans offers some of the best food this planet has to offer.
Before or after your Disney Magic cruise departs from the Port of New Orleans, you and your family and friends will want to try it all.

Then, once onboard the Disney Magic, you’ll be treated to even more delicious food options with three, themed, dining rooms including Rapunzel’s Royal Table.
2. Explore and Learn
You won’t feel guilty if you have to take your kids out of school for their vacation aboard the Disney Magic from the Port of New Orleans with all of the fun and interactive learning opportunities New Orleans has to offer.

For a look into the history of New Orleans, make sure to include a visit to The Louisiana State Museum and the Backstreet Cultural Museum.
If you have little ones in your travel party, they will absolutely love the Louisiana Children’s Museum.

But, the learning doesn’t stop there! Once onboard the Disney Magic, your children will expand their horizons with special activities in the kid’s clubs.
3. Sing and Smile
During your pre- or post-cruise stay in New Orleans, you will definitely want to experience some of the city’s iconic jazz music. Some great locations to hear some live jazz include the New Orleans Jazz Historical Park and in the festive French Quarter.

“Tangled: The Musical,” presented exclusively aboard the Disney Magic, combines a heartfelt story, an enchanting score and lavish production numbers to showcase the thrilling adventure of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, as they face ruffians, thugs and a budding romance on an exhilarating journey of self-discovery. Once onboard the Disney Magic, the music plays on with Broadway-caliber performances of “Tangled: The Musical,” a Pirates in the Caribbean deck party, and daily live music during your cruise vacation.
4. Splash Down
Before or after your cruise from the Port of New Orleans, I recommend jumping on another type of boat: A Mississippi River Boat. It’s the perfect way to see all that the city has to offer.

Once onboard the Disney Magic, you’ll also enjoy splashing in one of the ship’s pools or hot tubs. There’s also the AquaDuck that invites Guests to check out the ship’s highest views before a three-story plunge down into the waters below!
