Travel Behind the Scenes with Disneyland’s Holiday Toy Drummers!
It’s hard to adjust back into the routine after Christmas comes to a close. Let’s relive the magic by traveling behind the scenes with Disneyland’s amazing Holiday Toy Drummers!
Disney Parks
There’s nothing more magical than spending the holidays at Disney Parks. Whether you’re on the east or west coast, both Resorts offer a feast for the senses.
From delicious treats to incredible decorations, every nook and cranny is covered with Disney cheer! Memorable performances live on in our hearts long after we leave the Parks, giving us treasured memories to last a lifetime.
Holiday Toy Drummers
One such performance involves The Holiday Toy Drummers at Disneyland Resort! Guests can get an up-close look at the larger-than-life Christmas characters in Paradise Gardens Park at Disney California Adventure.
Now through January 8, 2023, the musicians play their drums multiple times each day, near the Obelisk. Recently D23 shared about its chat with show director, Linda Simmons.
In the interview, she shares what goes into creating the festive presentation.
Behind the Scenes
The Holiday Toy Drummers debuted at Disneyland about 10 years ago.
As with all of Disney’s offerings, storytelling plays a big part in the performance. 16 people currently sit on the roster, bringing joy to Guests during the holiday season.
During rehearsals, Cast Members look for personality and showmanship. They’re also interested in the applicant’s ability to do drum and stick tricks.
Many of the Holiday Toy Drummers toured with Drum Corps International. The show requires a specific skill set, with a comprehensive understanding of marching and movement.
Simmons says that the drummers are committed to excellence. A collaborative effort, she’s proud of the work the group has achieved together.
She adds, “These drummers—they’re my guys! And we’ve been on lots of adventures together, creating the show and putting it back on its feet every year. It’s just joyful!”
I don’t know about you, but hearing about Disneyland’s Holiday Toy Drummers makes me wish we could travel back to Christmas time. Have you ever seen them perform at California Adventure?
