Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Passes $400 Million Mark
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever once again reigned supreme at the box office this weekend, claiming the top spot for the fifth week in a row.
With an estimated haul of just over 11 million dollars over the past couple of days, the film has now officially surpassed the $400 million dollar mark at the domestic box office.
While it is unlikely that Wakanda Forever will be able to top its predecessor’s $1 billion dollar box office return, the film will likely break the $800 million mark globally.
The highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s Black Panther, Wakanda Forever tells the story of the Wakandan royal family as they move the country forward in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
The film also debuted Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of the underwater nation of Talokan. Stars Letita Wright, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o and Martin Freeman also all reprise their roles from the original Black Panther film.
Black Panther Wakanda: Forever has received rave reviews from critics and film goers alike, however its box office dominance will end with the upcoming release of Avatar: The Way of Water. The first Disney released Avatar film is expected to command movie theaters leading into Christmas.
