D23 Announces Live Action Snow White in 2024
There have been a lot of headlines coming out of D23 this weekend in Anaheim. On Friday, Disney announced that the live action Snow White will premiere in 2024.
The musical film is written by Greta Gerwig & Erin Cressida and directed by Marc Webb.
The new film will be a live action adaptation of Disney’s famous 1937 animation, Snow White.
Rachel Zegler will play the lead role of Snow White while Gal Gadot will take on the role of the Evil Queen.
Zegler, a Latina actress is very excited to show the world this new version of Snow White. Despite the early backlash she faced after the casting announcements, she remained positive.
“When it was announced, it was a huge thing that was trending on Twitter for days, because all of the people were angry,” said Zegler. “At the end of the day, I have a job to do that I am really excited to do. I get to be a Latina Princess.”
The film will also introduce a new love interest for Snow White. Johnathon, who is described as being a “Robin Hood like” character will be played by Andrew Burnap.
Zegler and Gadot were on hand at the D23 Expo this weekend to promote the film.
” Snow White is the girl you remember, but she is definitely made for the modern age.” Zegler told the audience.
Gadot touched on what it was like playing the Evil Queen.
“It was very different from everything I’ve done before,” said Gadot. “She is the first and most iconic villain in the world.”
