If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that the D23 Expo kicks off today in Anaheim, California and already there’s been a whole host of awesome information that we’re excited to share with you!
One of the not to be missed pavilions at this years expo is the new Wonderful World of Dreams section. Inside are some pretty BIG revelations including a closure look at the Splash Mountain refurb, a new Tiana themed eatery coming to Disneyland and more. Let’s check out the highlights below:
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Model
Having pride-of-place in the center of the pavilion is a first look at the model for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This is the re-theming of the Splash Mountain attraction that is slated to open at Walt Disney World and Disneyland in 2024. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will bring guests down the bayou along with Tiana, Naveen and the rest of the gang from The Princess and the Frog.
The model of the attraction looks absolutely EPIC and we can’t wait to find out more details! Additional artwork at the pavilion reveals a bit about the story that will unfold on the ride.
Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets
But that’s not all when it comes to Tiana-inspired awesomeness! As you know, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be located in the New Orleans Square are of Disneyland theme park. Accompanying it will be an all-new retail store. This is expected to open in just a few short weeks (September 20,2022.) The shop will be called Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets!
As the backstory goes, Tiana is setting up shop with her dressmaker mother Eudora. The store will sell accessories to create and serve masterful New Orleans-style cuisine and more!
Mickey’s Toontown and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Guests have been racing down the tracks on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a while now but the Disneyland version is still a work in progress. Mickey’s Toontown is currently undergoing an exciting transformation with more sights, sounds and sensations as it gets ready for the new attraction.
Above is an artists rendering of what the land will look like when it reopens in 2023. This area will be Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard!
We’re also excited to share a first look at the attraction poster for Runaway Railway which you can check out below!
Transformation of EPCOT
We’ve spoken at length this year about the historic transformation happening over at EPCOT. Currently under construction, Journey of Water, inspired by Moana will provide guests with yet another shining example of immersive storytelling! Disney shared a sneak peek of the Te Fiti model that will be a part of the attraction and it is nothing short of breathtaking!
In case you missed it, Disney Imagineers also provided us with a first look of the Walt the Dreamer statue that will inspire guests in the new Dreamer’s Point area currently under construction at EPCOT!
The ongoing historic transformation of EPCOT will bring the next generation of immersive storytelling to life through a collection of new attractions and experiences. Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is one of those new experiences, and guests can see behind-the-scenes photos of its development and a model of Te Fiti in the pavilion.
Around the World at International Parks
Moving across the pond, Disney will be bringing the first Zootopia-themed attraction to Shanghai Disney Resort. Some of the citizens of Zootopia are currently on display at D23 Expo to give guests a first-look at the friendly faces you’ll encounter.
We’re also expecting more exciting details to be revealed about Fantasy Springs at Tokyo Disney Resort. The newest themed port will be based on beloved Disney films Peter Pan, Tangled and Frozen.
Speaking of Frozen, the Wonderful World of Disney pavilion also provides a first look at a new poster of and details for the new land coming to Hong Kong Disney that is inspired by the film.
Hey Disney!
Then there’s the awesome collaboration between Disney and Amazon! Hey Disney! is a unique digital voice assistance built on existing Alexa technology that will allow guests to interact with some of Disney’s most beloved characters from your Disney Resort room and at home. Disney has announced that they will continue to expand on characters and offerings over time and initial characters will include Olaf, C3PO, Tiana and Mirabel!
DisneyMe D23 Expo Quest
Visitors to the Expo are also being treated with a sneak peek at DisneyMe. This all-new digital avatar is part of the Play Disney Parks app. Through Disney Me, guests can express their Disney style by creating your own unique DisneyMe avatar. There will be a special quest involving DisneyMe at this year’s D23 Expo and attendees will uncover specially designed clothing and accessories.
