ICYMI: ‘Harmonious’ Barge Catches Fire Friday Night
Full of pyrotechnics and incredible projections, EPCOT’s new nighttime spectacular “Harmonious” always offers a special way to finish a night at the theme park. Last night, however, the show ended with quite a surprise.
Toward the conclusion of the show, a fire broke out on one of the show’s launch platforms. Luckily, it appears that the the main barges as well as the central orb remained unscathed.
Disney confirms the Harmonious fire only impacted a fireworks launch platform.

“A fireworks launch platform had a contained fire after Friday’s show and was extinguished,” Disney confirmed, according to theme park reporter Scott Gustin in a Tweet last night.

Digital Designer Graeme Bagley caught the sight, quickly sharing it last night on Twitter as well.
This is not the first time that a firework has gone rouge during the show. A while back, a bit of landscaping caught on fire near the American Gardens Theatre.
Earlier in the year, a small fire also prompted temporary changes in the launch of the awe-inpsiring perimeter fireworks that define one of the show’s final sequences set to “Someday” from “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”
After that, the perimeter fireworks were not launched for a series of days, largely due to strong winds in the area.
Unlike the long-running “Illuminations: Reflection of Earth,” “Harmonious” looks to be destined for the same fate as its predecessor, “EPCOT Forever.” The run for this show will end next year to make way for a new show dedicated to the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary, according to an announcement made at the D23 Expo in September.
Make sure to catch the show (and grab the specialty merchadise) while you can!
