10 Reasons Why Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the Best
It can be overwhelming trying to choose the perfect resort hotel for your Walt Disney World vacation, but we’re here to help.
Disney offers different tiers of resorts to accommodate different budgets, as well as different style preferences. Let’s just say, Art of Animation checks all of the boxes and here’s why!
The Art of Animation Resort pays homage to the creative talent it takes to create animation. The name of the resort comes directly from the book, The Art of Animation, that was written about practices created by the Walt Disney Company.
The start of the journey (the lobby) shows larger than life sketches and renderings of characters, while the hotel buildings themselves represent the finished product, which is why everything looks as it does in the movies.
There are 4 themed areas of the Art of Animation Resort: Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid. As you approach each of these areas you will feel like you have literally been dropped into their movie!
Think the theming ends outside? Oh no, no. Even walking in the hallway to your room you will have in your face touches from the land that you are in.
In our Cars building, the carpet was a collage of traffic cones, the light scones were traffic cones, and the room numbers were interstate signs. How clever!
The suites are designed to bring out the kid in all of us. The rooms are like nothing else on Disney property: every inch is part of the theme!
The kitchenette, the sofa, the lights, and even the shower! Everything is detailed! It’s scientifically impossible to enter one of these rooms and not smile.
Part of the Value Resorts
With all of the over the top theming, not to mention the large number of family suites, you would expect this resort to be part of the moderate or deluxe resorts. Nope.
Art of Animation is, in fact, part of the value resorts on property.
It’s no secret that Disney hotel rooms are small. They are fitting a lot of people in these resorts! For most of the resort, small is not a word that you would use to describe these rooms!
The Finding Nemo section, The Lion King section and the Cars section are all family suites that includes a master bedroom with a door (that door is worth its weight in gold!). They also include a kitchenette, a fold out sofa bed, and a dining table/ murphy bed combo. The Little Mermaid rooms are just themed standard-sized rooms.
The Art of Animation Resort is located right next to POP Century Resort where the Skyliner is located. Guests staying at AoA will also have access to this new and exciting transportation system to take them to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
Did you know that the Art of Animation Resort boasts the largest pool on Disney World property? The Big Blue pool is in the Finding Nemo section and is the hub for Resort games and activities galore.
The other sections also have their own pools equally themed to their story, but much smaller and quieter.
All resort Quick Service restaurants are not created equally. Let’s just say that we are not blown away by the Quick Service locations in the All Star resorts.
However, Wave of Flavors in the Art of Animation has tons of options that are way more exciting than pizza and nuggets. Our favorite was the toasted Caprese sandwich. Yum!
Little known fact, but all Disney resorts have walking trails, and even 5k runs on Sundays, but none of them have trails quite like Art of Animation.
Imagine the sidewalk turning to small gravel, and the green grass making way to beige sand. Imagine green palms being replaced with red stone mountains.
Next thing you know, you’re in Radiator Springs! That doesn’t happen anywhere else! Which brings us to #9…
Every family vacation needs to have photos to look back on, but let’s face it, who actually remembers to take nice photos in the park? You’re too busy having fun! The time to take them is when your family is still relatively calm at the hotel.
Get your family pictures with Mr. Ray, Ursula, Mater, and more by just walking around your resort a bit! Hello, Christmas Card!
Stay in the Magic From Dawn Until Dusk
The best reason to stay at Art of Animation is that because of the theming, you can stay in the magic of Disney from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed.
Reality and adulthood can wait for you after vacation. Go ahead and let yourself have fun. Stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.
