VIDEO: Walt Disney World Celebrates World Wish Day
Happy World Wish Day! Today Disney is celebrating the anniversary of Make-A-WIsh which was founded 42 years ago today. It’s an important day especially for cast members who make Disney wishes come true for kids and their families. There are even some cast members that are former wish recipients.
With that in mind, Disney had a chance to create magic for two wish alumni/cast members who were invited to be Grand Marshals during the “Festival of Fantasy Parade” at Magic Kingdom. Check out the video below:
When watching the video above, you may have noticed an EARidescent license plate on the Grand Marshal vehicle. This is the Walt Disney World specialty license plate benefiting Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida. This project has generated more than half a million dollars in total contributions. How incredible is that!?
Inspired by Cinderella Castle the license plate is proving to the perfect way to make wishes come true this World Wish Day while also celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort. Find more information about the license plates here: www.flhsmv.gov.
As we continue our World Wish Day celebration its worth noting that since 1980s Disney has been helping Wish Families make their Disney dreams come true. One wish recipient for example recently got to enjoy a inaugural voyage aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
Over the years, Disney has helped Make-A-Wish grant more than 145,000 wishes. Here’s to another 42 years of Disney and Make-A-Wish continuing to make a difference for kids who visit Walt Disney World Resort. Disney hopes that it will soon be able to welcome families from Canada. Make-A-Wish Canada announced today that they have once again started to book Walt Disney World travel wishes. We expect more details in the days and weeks ahead.
