Hidden Mickey Found on New 50th Anniversary Refillable Mugs
The two designs of 50th anniversary refillable mugs at Walt Disney World Resort celebrate all of the icons that make the resort so special. With famous characters on one design that showcases so much of the new at the resort, the second design pays homage to the classic resort hotels that also mark their important milestone during “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”
To our surprise yesterday though, the mugs got a surprise redesign in lid structure. Previously, the mugs debuted a new flip-top design that delighted veteran visitors with their new, much more leak-proof latch.
Now, the lids take on a much flatter top that happens to feature the silhoutte of the main man himself: Mickey Mouse. The lids still utilize the complimentary combination of yellows and blues used in the previous designs.
The colors evoke the EARidescent golds and deep royal blues used throught the 50th anniversary merchandise and theme park designs.
The structure of the lid seems to be inspired by the new lid designs for Starbucks Coffee’s cold beverage cups. It’s a more oval-shaped drink hole, which gives a more even flow of beverage.
We found the new mugs yesterday at the Wind and Waves Marketplace, the quick-service restaurant at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. Refillable mugs are such a great choice there with so much time spent either poolside or at the ocean just steps away.
Other Offerings at Wind & Waves Marketplace
Along with an abundance of options for all three meals each day, Wind & Waves Marketplace also provides the perfect place to pick up a few favorite Disney Parks snacks. Alongside Mickey pretzels and churros, the restaurant also offers a variety of Dole Whip flavors, including the traditional pineapple and vanilla swirl.
We really enjoyed a unique offering of Key Lime Dole Whip with graham cracker crumbs speckled throughout the top. It was the perfect reat on an incredibly balmy day at the beach.
