“Cosmic Rewind” Directional Signs Up at EPCOT
With cast member previews on the horizon, new signage went up at EPCOT guiding guests toward the theme park’s newest attraction: “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.” The thrill ride opens on May 27th with excitement sure to only build between now and then.
The signage offers a look at the varying color choices that define two of new “worlds” of EPCOT. Right now, walkways guide guests past Spaceship Earth on a straight path toward World Showcase. Halfway up that stroll, guests can take the turn from World Celebration to World Discovery, home to “Guardians” as well as the Space pavillion and the fast-moving Test Track attraction.
The walkway itself just completed an incredible transformation, embracing the more transitional and modern design schemes utilized throughout EPCOT’s reimagining. With Creations Shop opening last fall, Connections Cafe and Eatery now displays a similar open-concept design as it also prepares for opening this spring.
Not only do the signs let guests now of the upcoming opening date, they also introduce parkgoers to the new EPCOT logo for the “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind” space. With new flags at the front of the park and even merchandise, the logo joins a number of long-used pavillion symbols. In honor of the reimagining, the park’s newer pavillions as well as attractions-to-come received logos now used throughout EPCOT.
Back to the Signs
As guests turn toward the former Universe of Energy pavillion from World Celebration, the signage uses two bold blues: one on the brighter, lighter side of the color spectrum and the other a deep royal blue.
The deep reds used in the doorways at Connections Cafe and Eatery tie in well with the color change that occurs as guests walk through the corridor.
Approaching World Discovery, the signs revert to the traditional red and purple color combinations that long-defined not only EPCOT signage but road signs throughout Walt Disney World Resort.
Within days of the opening date announcement, park reservations for Annual Passholders filled for the 27th. Luckily for resort guests, park availability remains open at the time of publication. We certainly can’t wait for our opportunity to visit Xandar and help save the galaxy!
