Kristina Schake Named Walt Disney Co. Spokesperson
Effective immediately, the Walt Disney Company today named veteran communications leader Kristina Schake as its new lead spokesperson and Executive Vice President, Global Communications.
“We’re pleased to welcome Kristina Schake as Executive Vice President of Global Communications. She will be responsible for our worldwide communications strategy and operations, and serve as the Company’s lead spokesperson,” the Walt Disney Company said in a Tweet today.
Bringing a wide range and three decades of experience, Schake will report to Geoff Morrell, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. Previously, Schake led the COVID-19 vaccine education campaign for the federal government in a position to which she was appointed to by President Joe Biden. She also served on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign as Deputy Communications Director. Formerly, Schake also held the role of Global Communications Director for social media giant, Instagram. In other political roles, she also “served in the Obama administration as Special Assistant to the President and Communications Director to the First Lady,” according to a Walt Disney Company release.
In the release, Schake expresses her excitement about the new appointment, specifically as the Walt Disney Company approaches its 100th anniversary celebration next year. Morrell added his optimism about Schake’s leadership role in the corporation.
“I could not be more pleased to welcome Kristina to Disney and to have her leading communications for the company. Her experience in the public and private sectors, in political and corporate campaigns, make her ideally suited for this important role and to help me integrate communications with government relations, public policy, and corporate social responsibility into a new Corporate Affairs team,” Morrell said in the release.
Schake’s role will place her home base in Southern California, the state she once called home in decades past. She also worked for former California First Lady Maria Shriver and began her career working for Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. Her wealth of experiences will assuredly help her cultivate this new team and continue to develop the voice of the Walt Disney Company.
