More Details About Muppets Electric Mayhem Series Coming to Disney+
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog, you may have seen our piece a few weeks ago regarding a new Muppets series coming to Disney+ that centers around the awesome musical stylings of the Electric Mayhem! The official title of the series is called “The Muppets Mayhem” and will be produced by ABC Signature and The Muppets Studios and follows the Electric Mayhem Band as it records it’s first ever studio album.
We can also report that Lilly Sing (A Little Late with Lilly Singh and Dollface) will be the lead human role. She’ll play a character named Nora who is a junior music executive tasked with managing (the rather unruly) band.
For those unfamiliar, The Electric Mayhem Band first made their debut on The Muppet Show back in the 1970s. The band features Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone and Lips on Trumpet.
We also know that the series was developed by Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes based on Jim Henson’s character. The series was written by Goldberg (The Goldbergs,) Bill Barretta (The Muppets, Muppets Haunted Mansion) and Jeff Yorkes and the executive producers are Goldberg, Barretta, Michael Bostic and Kris Eber. Yorkes and David Lightbody are executive producers.
“We are so excited to bring the story of The Electric Mayhem Band to the front and center of this new series. They’ve been entertaining audiences since ‘The Muppet Show,’ which debuted 45 years ago, so it’s wonderful that these characters are finally getting to play lead rather than supporting roles,” said David Lightbody, executive producer and senior vice president of Disney Live Entertainment and The Muppets Studio.
As of going to print, there is now word yet on when we might expect The Muppets Mayhem to make it’s Disney+ debut.
