Pixar Announces ‘Lightyear’ Voice Cast that Includes Taika Waititi, Josh Brolin, and More!
In a film sure to be among 2022s most anticipated, we now have insight into just who will appear in the film as Pixar announces the Lightyear voice cast that includes two Marvel veterans and many more!
There were few films that brought with them such skepticism as to the previously announced Buzz Lightyear solo film, aptly titled Lightyear.
Set to follow the story of the character that inspired the toy, Lightyear premiered a teaser trailer towards the end of last year that presented fans with a beautiful exploration into the project that would present an animated space adventure like no other.
Following the adventures of Buzz Lightyear- a space captain stationed on the moon for four years- as he boards his first test flight, the film will likely take fans into the deepest corners of the galaxy, as Lightyear has shown off an array of alien species and planetary atmospheres.
With the film previously announcing Chris Evans as the title character, there was little information on who else would be filling out the film’s supporting roles.
We now have more information on the full list of appearances as Pixar announces the Lightyear voice cast featuring some very interesting and well-known names.
As first reported by Collider, Evans will be joined by Keke Palmer, as well as his former Marvel costars in Taika Waititi and Josh Brolin; with the cast being rounded out by Dale Soules, Uzo Aduba, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.
The cast is rounded out by Peter Sohn’s voicing Buzz’s A. I companion Sox; the robotic cat who is destined to endear himself to audiences everywhere.
Speaking with Collider, the film’s director, Angus MacLane, spoke highly of the cast working on the film, stating:
“The cast for Lightyear is truly a dream team. Each of the performers immediately inhabited their character, which gave us the oppurtunity to play a bit during recording sessions.
This resulted ina level of specificity that elveated the material and brough additional depthto teh charactrs’ relationships. It has been a privilege to work with such a talented and gengeorus cast.”
Audiences can see that cast first hand in theaters this June 17th!
