Brie Larson and Jeremy Renner Have Unscripted Series in the Works for DIsney+
Here’s some interesting news from our friends at Marvel and Disney+. According to a recent piece in Variety, both Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel in the MCU and Jeremy Renner who plays Hawkeye, have unscripted series in the pipeline at Disney’s streaming network.
Brie Larson will be behind a series titled Growing Up which is a docuseries of different “coming-of-age” tales. We know that the series will feature episodes directed by Larson along with a whole host of other incredible directors and will use narrative, experimental and documentary filmmaking to follow a casted individual between the ages of 18-22 to tell their story.
In a recent release Disney said that the stories, “represent a wide range of lived experiences, giving audiences emotionally powerful narratives that offer an engaging look at teenage-hood and the diverse social, familial, and internal obstacles young people face on their path to self-discovery and acceptance. Each 30-minute episode features one young person, or ‘hero,’ and their experience growing up. Each episode is anchored by a deeply personal interview that allows our heroes to walk us through their childhood and teenage years. Alongside these interviews, creative cinematic reenactments help bring their major inflection points to life.”
Larson is also serving as executive producer on the project!
Rennervations comes from Boardwalk Pictures and Jeremy Renner is also listed as an executive producer. “Behind the big screen, Jeremy is a construction aficionado,” Disney said in the release. “He is heavily invested in the highly creative fabricator culture that exists across the globe and hopes to change lives with these skills and inspire others to do the same.”
A few other important Disney+ announcements were made today. Here are the other projects in the pipeline:
- “Under Wraps 2” – Halloween Themed
- “The Naughty Nine”- Holiday heist adventure.
- “Paola Santiago and the River of Tears” – live-action fantasy from Eva Longoria’s UnbeliEVAble Entertainment
- “Superfudge”- Animated version of the beloved Judy Blume book.
- “Tiny Trailblazers” – from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine (for Disney Junior.)
As we previously mentioned here at MickeyBlog, Secrets of Sulphur Springs has just been picked up for Season 2 by the Disney Channel and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will debut on Disney+ on February 23.
The Doc will be in as Disney gets ready to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Doc McStuffins with a new animated musical special which is expected to arrive later this year. Disney Junior will air episodes daily throughout the Spring including a marathon on Wednesday, March 23rd. The network will also unveil a new 10th anniversary Doc McStuffins doll from Just Play along with a new digital single “The Doc is 10, performed by Laya DeLeon Hayes on Friday, March 18th.
