Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” Becomes the First Disney Song to Reach the UK Chart No.1
Don’t listen to what la familia Madrigal says – we absolutely have to talk about Bruno!
Unless you’ve been living in the walls for the past month, you no doubt have heard that the catchy song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from the new Disney animated feature Encanto.
It has become quite the sensation. In fact, we don’t know of anyone who isn’t talking about Bruno!
Earlier this week, we reported that the song has given Disney its biggest hit since 1995, climbing up the the No.4 spot on the Billboard Top 100 charts.
Now, the song has smashed a whole new record, becoming the first ever Disney song to reach No.1 in the UK charts!
That’s right, the first Disney UK No.1 ever. Not even “Let It Go” climbed that high on the charts!
It’s incredible, really, since the song hasn’t even officially been released as a single, yet has still totalled up over 6 million streams in the UK in the past week.
There’s a good chance I was responsible for about a million of those.
If you haven’t seen Encanto yet, the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is sung by most of the cast (except Bruno,) in which the Madrigal family explain why they no longer speak about their estranged relative. It’s all very hush-hush, but if you know, you know.
The song was penned by Lin Manuel Miranda of Hamilton and Moana fame. “Surface Pressure,” another song on the soundtrack, is currently sat at No.5 on the charts, and “The Family Madrigal” is at No.15. Which song on the soundtrack is your favorite?
We hope to see Encanto continue to smash records worldwide, and can’t wait to hear everyone talk about Bruno for many years to come!
